Sisters, Such Devoted Sisters @ Library Theatre
It's actually a one drag queen show set in the shadowy and often violent gay underworld of Glasgow, written and performed by Russell Barr in the guise of his alter-ego, Bernice Hindley, so named because his wig makes him look like the "niece" of the notorious Myra Hindley.
Opening with the striking image of three drag queens barrelling along in the back of a meat delivery wagon and pelting each other with offal, the story, essentially a coming-of-age tale, takes many more strange, and often disturbing or darkly funny, turns before the shocking revelation of a horrific crime.
Along the way, the one-hour show features exploding pigeons, car-driving Jack Russell terriers, a boy's first kiss and the importance of knowing the right terminology for having your radiators and pipes stolen.
But, be warned, it's a show with a profoundly sad undertone and some jolting moments of genuine shock and horror.
Sisters, Such Devoted Sisters is on at the Library Theatre until Saturday, May 28. é8 - é15. Call 0161 236 7110.
