Single Review: Patrick Wolf – Vulture (Bloody Chamber)

DEEPLY retro electro tuneage from Patrick Wolf’s latest long-anticipated album that leans on Depeche Mode’s Violator sound, Marilyn Manson’s commercial ear for industrial techno and David Sylvian’s (Japan) Gothic croon for most of its identity.
Wolf’s story of selling his body and soul in tiny pieces around the world, Vulture’s stand-out feature – aside from its unsettling synth chords – is its stuttering vocals (‘D-d-d-d-d-d-dead meat,’ Wolf hiccups) that are almost impossible to resist a quick singalong to.
In fact, we can barely stay seated; we’re shuffling our way through the gothic two-step to it as we type…
