Single Review: Ida Maria – Oh My God (Waterfall)
CityLife Rating:
A RE-RELEASE it may be, but not before time.
Oh My God always was the finest pop song in the Norwegian singer’s oeuvre and deserved a second stab at success.
Simultaneously nervous and furious, it’s a huge pop-rock number that threatens to spill over into chaos from its opening bars: the mile-high bounce of its beats, the scurrying punk guitar riffs and Ida’s hysterical pleas could derail the track at any minute, but never come closer than during the chorus.
“Oh my god, you think I’m in control/Oh my god, you think it’s all for fun,” she bellows.
In control? No. But oh my god, it’s certainly fun.
