ANYONE FOR CRICKET?: White Lies

1 / 1 imagesANYONE FOR CRICKET?: White Lies

GOTHIC London trio White Lies’ stadium rock credentials have long been hyped up and now they’ll have the chance to prove them after bagging a clutch of support slots on Coldplay’s European tour.

And the Ealing three-piece who rose to prominence following a starring role on February’s NME tour, will open for Chris Martin and the boys at Old Trafford Cricket Ground on September 12 before playing dates in Dublin, Glasgow and London.

Led by frontman Harry McVeigh, the West London rockers 21st century take on the gloomy, anthemic sounds of Echo & The Bunnymen and Joy Division has won then a mountain of fans, with their debut LP, To Lose My Life, rocketing to the top of the charts at the start of the year.

Now they’ll join hip-hop megastar Jay-Z in keeping the throng entertained until Coldplay bring their Viva La Vida album to life once more in Manchester.

Coldplay, Jay-Z, White Lies play Old Trafford Cricket Ground on Saturday, September 12. £44.04.

*White Lies will also return to play the Apollo on November 27.
