Institute date for synth geek Little Boots
BLACKPOOL GAL: Little BootsLINED up in the front phalanx of the shameless revivalist pop vanguard, Little Boots is expected to become seriously hot property in 2009.
Real name Victoria Hesketh, LB (as we like to call her) sounded a little confused about the appetite for her techno-tinged pop when she spoke to CityLife’s Gary Ryan in September ahead of her In The City double-date.
Things, though, have really taken off for Hesketh: last time she hit Manchester it was her third ever gig, but now she’s toured the world and recently won over the hearts of The Killers with her performance of her single, Meddle, on Later With Jools Holland.
To stop her getting too big for her little boots, the Blackpool-born lass still records home videos of her performing pop greats in her bedroom and posts them up on YouTube.
But sometimes, you need the real thing. So, this week, she’s back in the flesh for what is likely to be her final round of low-key dates, at the intimate Deaf Institute.
She’s a self-confessed synth geek, so expect to be ticking off some high scorers on your technology checklist: Moogs, Korgs, Stylophones, maybe even a Tenori-On.
It’s enough to make Caligula blush. Expect a mix of the A-list indie contingent and some serious anoraks.
Little Boots plays The Deaf Institute on Wednesday, November 26. £6. Hearbreak support. Call 0161 832 1111.
