MUCH-loved ‘manband’ Take That have added a FIFTH date in the city, after the quartet sold out four shows in just a few hours.
The Circus Live Tour will now arrive at Old Trafford Cricket Ground on June 23, for the first of five gigs in six days.
In total the band has shifted an 600,000 tickets nationwide, selling out 12 dates and smashing all UK box office records - including that held by Michael Jackson for his ‘87 Bad Tour.
On the remarkable feat the band said: “We are, once again, totally astounded by the response and amazed at being able to break such records - we feel very privileged to be in this position at such a time.
"We’re all meeting up this afternoon to start planning next summer and promise to make it the very best show we’ve ever done. See you in 2009!”
After reuniting following a 10-year hiatus in 2006, the quartet went on to sell out a string of M.E.N. Arena dates, but now with the release of a new LP imminent the four-piece have lined-up their biggest tour yet.
Yet when they tentatively met up back in 2005 to discuss the possibility of making a TV documentary, none of them could have imagined the incredible journey they were about to embark upon.
Ratings winner
The documentary was a ratings winner, attracting over seven million viewers, and as a direct result, on November 25 that year the band appeared at an official press conference to announce a British tour.
The Ultimate Tour sold out in record time and saw the band play to over half a million fans around the nation winning critical and public acclaim.
Beautiful World
And that was just the beginning. Take That’s last album Beautiful World sold more than two and half million copies in the UK, making it their most successful record to date.
Since then they have also won a string of prestigious awards including an Ivor Novello for single Shine three Brit Awards: Best Single (2007) for Patience, Best Single (2008) for Shine and Best Live Act (2008).
Take That release their fifth studio offering 'The Circus' on December 1 through Polydor Records, it will be preceded by the single, Greatest Day, on November 24.
Their summer tour will also take in Sunderland, Cardiff, Glasgow and London.
Take That play Old Trafford Cricket Ground on Tuesday, June 23 and Wednesday, June 24 and from Friday, June 26 until Sunday, June 28. £45, £55. Call 0844 847 8000.
