AS In the City rapidly approaches, when the eyes of the music industry turn to Manchester, line-ups are busily being stitched together for the three-day extravaganza.

One of the first one-off events comes from respected independent record label Heavenly Social, which is in the throws of celebrating its 18th birthday.

Taking place on October 5, billed to join in the jelly and ice cream-esque fun are Bolton troubadour Cherry Ghost (pictured), revered Orange Juice main man Edwyn Collins, purveyor of summery pop Romeo Stoddart from the Magic Numbers plus a host of others.

All set to take place at arguably Manchester's greatest new addition to the live music scene, the Deaf Institute, and topped off by the famed Social DJs - it should make for an eclectic start to ITC 2008.
