ROLLER skates will be the footwear of choice in Manchester this weekend when the Castlefield Arena is turned into a giant free roller disco.

The Nokia Skate Almighty event comes to the city centre on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Up to 1000 people at any one time can enjoy the outdoor rink and will be able to roller dance to the latest sounds provided by legendary Hacienda DJ Graeme Park (pictured).

Will Harris, Nokia spokesman, says: "Skate Almighty is going to be the event of the summer."
