GREEN shoots may be appearing, but our demand for local, organic food often fails to meet our financial situation. Bringing his skills to Manchester on July 12, author of The Forager Handbook, Miles Irving is offering a crash course in finding free, healthy food. This is foraging as the experts do.

Whether you want to sample a banquet made from the natural possibilities which surround us, or would prefer to participate in an all-day course and enjoy a banquet afterwards as a reward for your hard work, the choice is yours.

On the crash course you’ll be learning how to find, identify and prepare several plants from the major plant families, whereas the banquet will explore the culinary possibilities of wild food, providing a five course delight. Naturally, whilst the food itself is free, the course does come with a price of £90.

Considering the banquet costs £30, and the course includes the wild dinner banquet, your decision might be swayed. After all, if you want to forage, you need to know how to do it. Located just off the M60, Isinglass in Urmston is within easy reach of all parts of Manchester.
