THE Lass O’Gowrie was the setting for Monday’s Open Mic Night.
There was no official start to the evening but as with most open mics, the organiser began the night by playing a few songs.
This was followed by the scarce few who had brought their own guitars hoping for a moment in front of the crowd.
The stage was a raised area in the corner of the pub opposite the bar.
An excellent place as it meant no one obstructed the performers and pub life could go on as normal.
The audience generally consisted of student types who were ready to have a good night.
Those who wanted to enjoy the music could sit closer to the stage, although not many people took the invitation.
For those going for a quiet drink, the Open Mic Night provided an enjoyable acoustic set. For those who were performing, the quiet night meant they were able to play more than one song using the good PA system that didn’t take long to set up between acts.
It was just a pity that more people didn’t show.
