McGowan to bring impressions to town
DUBBED the nation’s favourite impressionist (although fans of younger upstart John Culshaw might disagree), Alistair McGowan is the latest stellar name to join The Lowry’s autumn schedule.
The Worcestershire-born chameleon best known for his Big Impression BBC series, will join Bill Bailey, Dave Gorman and Simon Amstell at the Quays venue later this year.
Due in town on November 8, the 44-year-old will bring his brand new, one-man show to Salford promising to ‘resurrecting his celebrity impressions and introducing audiences to a host of new never-before-heard voices along the way’.
Expect sharp observations, poetry and romance, animals and surrealism, love and anger, wordplay and ‘greenery’ as well as footballers and film stars.
Aptly, in these credit crunching times, it will be a minimalist show with no make-up or costume changes… just one man, a microphone and a multitude of voices.
Alistair McGowan plays The Lowry on Sunday, November 8. £15. Call 0870 787 5780.
