BENEFIT: Moorhouse

IF this year’s record-breaking Comic Relief proved anything, it was that even in times of financial dire straits, the good old British public are still willing to put their hand in their pocket for those less fortunate.

So the organisers of Comedy4Christies will be hoping this heartening trend continues when the cream of the local stand-up scene join forces to raise money for the Didsbury cancer specialist hospital.

Taking place at The Lowry on July 5, heading the bill will be Radio 4 star, local DJ and Phoenix Nighter Justin Moorhouse.

He’ll be joined by Stockport's most famous housewife, Barbara Nice, 2004 CityLife Comedian of the Year John Warburton, fast-rising newcomber Daliso Chaponda, Slaughterhouse Live stars Gary Morris and Andrew Willison, music hall wonders The Chantilly Belles and finally, Channel M’s own Phil Buckley.

That’s five comics, plenty of laughs and a warm, fuzzy feeling for doing your bit for charity - all for 15 nicker!

Comedy4Christies is at The Lowry on Sunday, July 5. £15. Call 0870 787 5780.
