CIRCUIT SUCCESS: Brydon

OH, what’s occurring? Rob Brydon’s back on tour, and I’ll tell you for why.

After proving a festive hit reprising gullible Uncle Bryn in the Gavin and Stacy Christmas special, Brydon has returned to the stand-up circuit this autumn.

Original a trial for television to rediscover his affinity with his home nation of Wales, Brydon enjoyed the experience so much he’s decided to take it across the Severn Bridge and tour the whole of the UK.

Arriving at the Opera House on September 17, the Swansea-born performer first came to public’s attention as the comical chauffeur in Marion and Geoff, but it has been his award-winning performances as Stacey’s Uncle Bryn, which has made him a household name.

Penned by James Corden (Smithy) and Ruth Jones (Nessa), Gavin And Stacey originally began life as a slow-burning cult hit on BBC3, but has now switched to BBC1 and a third series is expected later this year.

An accomplished impressionist, Brydon also starred opposite Steve Coogan in the faux fly-on-the-wall take on the film world, A Cock And Bull Story.

Now host of the BBC1 panel show 'Would I Lie To You?', Brydon returns to the city after his tour was extended to satisfy demand.

Cracking, as Nessa would no doubt say.

Rob Brydon plays the Opera House on Thursday, September 17. £17.50.
