Labour of love for Kerry
WHEN you’re walking through Morrisons doing your shopping and you find yourself getting strange looks, it can be a little off putting.
But if the reason you’re getting these looks is that you’re strolling round nonchalantly checking out the Bisto and you’ve still got your umbrella up, then fair enough.
Kerry Leigh, who performs her one woman show All Change this weekend, said: “When you’re pregnant part of your brain just disappears and you tend to do ridiculous things”.
In Kerry’s show she talks about the looming birth of her second child and the things women go through during their pregnancy, like people she hardly knows touching her stomach and talking to a bump instead of her.
Massive bump
“I did a similar show about 18 months after my first child, not intentionally, there were just things I needed to get off my chest and some of the things are so bad they’re funny, so now with my second child on the way, it’s a revised show and also a bit different as I’m up on stage with a massive bump in front of me,” said Kerry.
“I’m hoping for a mixed audience, I performed it at Buxton Fringe and had a quite a few middle-aged men there as they would have experienced similar things through their partners’ pregnancies,” Kerry added.
Being eight months’ pregnant this is the last of the shows, but you never know Kerry might even give birth as an encore.
Seriously, please do bring hot towels and cigars.
Kerry performs at the Peter Barkworth Theatre on Friday, October 17 and Saturday, October 18. Tickets are £5 or £4 for students.
