WHAT do you normally do on a Sunday afternoon? Watch television? Go for a walk? Try to remember what you did on Saturday night? All of them, along with sleeping, tidying up and learning to play classic game show theme tunes on a comb, are standard pastimes.
But what if you could spend the whole afternoon (and evening) ‘having it large’ (note: this a '90s phrase that has something to do with dancing) to some thoroughly banging house tunes, surrounded by dancers and a bunch of other people who just can’t let go of the weekend?
If your answer to that was “I would”, then keep reading, because that is exactly the idea behind Glasshouse, a new weekly ‘day party’ that kicks off at Sankeys on Sunday, April 26.
Having taken Ibiza (hurrah) and Leeds (boo) by storm, the club arrives in town with a host of big names booked for their first shindig. Joining the party, which runs from midday ‘til midnight, will be Paul Jackson, Phil Drummond and Sonny Wharton.
“This is a really exciting expansion for Glasshouse,” said promoter Karl Jukes. “To be able to bring a slice of our magic to a place where the Hacienda was born is just a dream come true.”
“We’re mad fer it,” he added, demonstrating a remarkably up-to-date grasp of our city’s culture.
After the first one, this’ll run every Sunday, with different special guests each week. Future lineups are yet to be announced, but stay tuned to CityLife.co.uk to hear the latest news first.
