Club Profile: Now Wave
A NOSTALGIA-BAITING riot with an agenda set firmly in the here-and-now, Now Wave has effected an atomic impact on Manchester with a policy that pays about as much regard to the past as is reasonable for any club populated by young people (ie none at all) and a pledge never to play any old or boring nonsense.
Here are the need-to-knows:
What is it? Now Wave
Where is it? The Deaf Institute
When is it? Every Wednesday, 11pm-2am
How much? FREE!!!1!
What the Facebook says: "Celebrating the ‘now’ not the ‘then’, Now Wave is focused only on what is new and exciting in music. [We] will not play anything more than two years old."
What else? Live music nights, staged at various venues under the Now Wave banner and featuring the likes of Little Boots, May 68 and the Juan Maclean, have seen the club build up a rep for hosting pulse-quickening acts way ahead of town’s more established venues.
Expect to hear: Golden Silvers, Bat For Lashes, MIA, Wavves, Friendly Fires
Look out for: Hotly-tipped and amazing Londoners the XX, play the club on 4 October.
