MANCHESTER crime writer Val McDermid is joining forces with shopoholic author Sophie Kinsella and best-selling author Stella Duffy to raise funds for Christie’s at Manchester Grammar School.

The three authors all agreed to support YOUCare, the Christie’s charity that is raising funds to refurbish the Young Oncology Unit’s Day Care centre.

YOUCare was set up by Helena and Pete Broude of Prestwich, Manchester, in memory of their son Robert, who was treated there until he lost his fight for life at the age of 19.   This women-only literary evening is taking place in Robert’s old school, Manchester Grammar School, and includes dinner, wine and three very entertaining speakers.

There will be the opportunity to ask the authors questions, get signed books – and support a very worthwhile cause.    Tickets for the event on Tuesday, July 7, are still available, are priced at £45 – ring YOUCare on 07831 261450.
