ANTIFREEZE: the alternative art car boot sale
DESPITE the fact that it's, erm, only June, Manchester's first arts-led car boot sale ANTIFREEZE has been voted the 6th best thing to do all summer by The Times Online. High praise indeed, but will they live up to it? And what the heck is it anyway?
Head honchos Contents May Vary are looking for 50-70 artists, projects, galleries and publishers to participate in a car boot fair on July 4.
Aiming to deliver an alternative to commercial art fairs, Contents May Vary are looking for anything from temporary galleries and zine stalls to video installations and performances. What they don't want, however, is you to make £20 from Granny's china.
The event is part of Trade City at the CHIPS building in the city centre, and co-incides with the Manchester International Festival (MIF).
For a 5.5 x 2.4m pitch at ANTIFREEZE (£10), send a 500 word max proposal with images and weblinks to c-m-v@hotmail.co.uk by June 15. Each participant will be allocated an average size parking space to park and and set up in.
