AS part of the Future 50 arts project, five leading Manchester artists are to exhibit their work in Leeds.

The Future 50 exhibition will be taking place at Project Space Leeds between November 21 and 23.

Interestingly, at this exhibition you will be able to buy the art straight off the walls and take it home there and then. Future 50 is also promising to cut down on the astronomical price tags normally seen at art exhibitions.

This sentiment stems from a feeling that, as curator Ceri Hand puts it, "it's important to develop more opportunities for collectors north of London to see and buy new work".

Among the Manchester artists to be showcased is Samantha Donnelly, whose drawings and sculptures have been exhibited all over the world. Donnelly uses a variety of materials and techniques to create other worldy imagery.

Manchester based Jo McGonigal's minimal and representational drawings (which she combines with hard edges of enamel and paint) will also be shown, as will some of Nick Crowe's various works in glass, slideshows and video.

The other two Manchester artists to be featured will be Fiona Curran, with her fantastically colourful works in paper and paint and Ian Rawlinson of the MMU art school, who has in the past created some striking light works.

The exhibition is being put on by Axis, the online resource site for contemporary art as they too feel it important to bring opportunities to buy art to new collectors.
